I am trying to find information on Quimper (the town where Quimperware
is created in Brittany) and if there ever was a Jewish community living
there or in the area.

Yes, is the short answer, Marlene. The longer answer is that you need to
give a time frame and then you might be able to find more details. For
example in 1876 the writer Max JACOB (born ALEXANDER) was born in Quimper.
There were 44 Jews deported and victims of Nazism and the Vichy Government
whose origin was Finistere. Amongst them were the ARNSTEIN family of Quimper
(Herman and Emilie and their 3 children) who were sent to Auschwitz in 1944.
There were also the GABAI family-Laura (nee HAIM born in Smyrna) and 2
children-again sent to Auschwitz in 1944. Finally, there were Jacque & Djope
Judith SIGOURA (nee ASCHER) both born in Smyrna who were resident in
Ergue-Armel (part of Quimper) who were also sent to Auschwitz in 1944. The
good news is that Djope Judith survived the deportation.

I am not sure if this is the sort of thing you wanted. I found it in a few
minutes on the internet by using a search engine and entering the terms
Quimper and Jew.
