German SIG #Germany Werner Frank to speak at June 21st JGSLA meeting #germany
The Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles (JGSLA) has announced that
GerSig coordinator and "Stammbaum" editor Werner Frank, a JGSLA member,
will present at our June 21st meeting, which is co-sponsored with the Jewish
Community Library of Los Angeles. The title of the presentation is:
"The Genealogist's Crowning Achievement: Recording His Legacy."
Mr. Frank began researching his family history in 1996 and has amassed a database
of over 30,000 names. His research has extended back to the 13th century through
a connection to the rabbinic dynasty of Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg. His opus is an
account of Landjuden (small town Jews) whose livelihood as horse, cattle, and feed
brokers depended upon the needs of the surrounding gentile farming communities.
Their lives and struggles are recorded for a period of over 300 years in Germany,
from the Thirty Years War to the impact of Nazism. Mr. Frank recently published ameticulously researched 900 page family history:
"Legacy: The Saga of a German-Jewish Family over Time and Circumstance"
The book was published by the Avotaynu Foundation.
