German SIG #Germany Request member proposals for GerSIG meetings during NY 2006 Conference #germany

GerSIG has scheduled a "box lunch" luncheon meeting for Monday of the
August Conference. Tickets to this event can be ordered at the Conference website.

At this meeting the Coordinators will report briefly on SIG business.
Outstanding achievements by SIG members will be recognized.
New members will have an opportunity to introduce themselves.
To date we have not found a luncheon speaker and no lecture is planned.

There will be ** limited ** time for discussion of new SIG business.
This might include proposals for additions or changes to existing programs.
Existing GerSIG programs are this Forum, our website and the Obermayer German
History Awards program.

I don't believe that there will be enough time for serious discussion of
new research projects or other major "new business". GerSIG members who
are interested in organizing and leading new projects should prepare proposals
in advance of the August Conference.

GerSIG members who are willing and able to undertake new special interest programs
such as regional projects should initiate "birds of a feather" (BOF) meetings
at which those with mutual interests can organize. These meetings must be arranged
through the NY 2006 Conference organization.

Some members have suggested that a formal GerSIG business meeting should be
added to the schedule. This would allow more detailed discussion of both old and
proposed GerSIG business.

Your comments about the addition of a GerSIG Business Meeting to the NY 2006
Conference schedule will be appreciated. Please send them to:

Your thoughts will be collected and reported in the Forum.
