Gerd Friedt had been of inestimable value to me in completing the search
for one large branch of my family tree. He has published numerous booklets
about the Jewish families of his home area north of Koeln. Having
corresponded with him for several years, I knew a little bit about him. I
was unable to finally meet him on a European trip in 2005 because of
scheduling problems. - Now I finally have a little more information and his
picture, taken two days before his 61st birthday during a presentation
of the "Rheinlandtaler" in Bergheim, where he once resided. The following
