I checked the Social Security Death Index and found the following:
Walter GUGGENHEIM. Born 16 Dec 1920. Death Aug 1978. Last Benefit received
in Buck, Pennsylvania. SSN 109-18-0393.

[A fee-based genealogy website] shows Walter GUGGENHEIM on New York Passenger
Lists, when I searched his name with his birth year, and birthplace.
Also available is his World War II Enlistment Record.

I hope these prove to be fruitful leads.
