Several people have asked me how they might get access to German military
personnel records >from WWI --other than the book listing Jews who perished
in that war. I have no personal knowledge of this subject but a Google
search indicates that German military records appear to be held at a branch
of the Bundesarchiv in Freiburg. The title of the organization is
Bundesarchiv - Militaerarchiv, Wiensentalstrasse 10 79115 Freiburg or

militaerarchiv@...

I have also been told that large parts of WWI records were seized by
the Russians in Berlin and have never been returned.

If there are others who have experience with this source, or other sources
of information, I hope they will add their comments.
