German SIG #Germany INTRO researching the WOOLF family from Hamburg Germany #germany

Hello GerSig,

I just joined the group. I have been doing genealogy research for about 8
months). While I'm competent with the Internet and using a computer, I consider
myself to be a total beginner in doing German Jewish Genealogy research. I live
in Mazkeret Batya, Israel. My native language is English and I also know Hebrew.

I have identified the names and birth and death dates of my four of my great
great great grandparents and the first Hebrew names of their fathers.

My great great great grandmother was Fredericka (Rika, Rachel) WOOLF the
daughter of Woolf WOOLF. The family also spelled the name WOLFF but this may
have been a later inovation. Fredericka was born in Hamburg, Germany, but
died together with two of her three sons (named Aaron, Jakob) during a
cholera outbreak in Raab, Hungary. She was survived by two other children -
Simeon (who went on to become Rabbi Simeon Singer in England) and Miriam.
Through the Jewish Online World Wide Burial registery [JOWBR], I have found
what I believe to be her gravestones and those of her sons.

I seek information on Fredericka's father Woolf WOOLF and on her mother,
whose name is unknown to me. They must have been born before 1794 as
Fredericka was born in 1810. Similarly, I am interested in identifying any
of Fredericka's siblings.

I have asked the Hamburg State Archive for assistance but am also interested
in any information that GerSig members can provide. Thanks very much.
