German SIG #Germany Nancy Adelson joins GerSIG Directors as Conference Event Coordinator #germany

Nancy Adelson, President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of
Washington State, has joined the GerSIG leadership team. She replaces
founding Director Werner Frank of Calabasas, California who resigned
in late 2010. Nancy will work with Jeanette Rosenberg of Middlesex,
UK, in planning and directing GerSIG events at annual IAJGS
conferences and other programs and meetings.

Nancy JG Adelson is a founding member, President, Program Chair, and
past Washington State JOWBR Chair for the Jewish Genealogical Society
of Washington State. She has researched over 4000 family members for her
husband (Sephardic) and her (Eastern and Western European) families with some
branches going to the early 1700s.

While raising her three daughters, and working two jobs, Nancy wrote and
self-published a book about her father, "New York City Boy". She presented
">from Start to Finish: Publishing Your Family History" at the 26th IAJGS
Conference in New York.

Nancy taught the "Jewish Genealogical Research Beginner Strategies
Parts 1&2" at the 2009 and 2010 IAJGS conferences. She recently
presented "Sharing and Publishing your Genealogical Research" to Fiske
Genealogical Foundation and "Jewish Genealogy; Finding your Roots" for
the WRJ Pacific District Biennial Conference Seattle, WA. She also
lectures on genealogy on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

Her recent honors and awards include the IAJGS Salutes, Washington
State Genealogical Society Award for Outstanding Efforts in the
Preservation of Important Washington State Genealogical Records, and
JGSWS Outstanding Community Service Awards. She also earned The
Trustee Life Long Learning Award and The Governor Dan Evans Award for
Innovation for her teaching abilities while working as a tenured Professor.

About her German ancestors, Nancy writes: "My dad's side of the family
were all >from the Austria-Hungary Empire, Germany, Prussia and
Bavaria and lived within their changing borders. My ancestors moved to
the US >from 1840s to 1880. Most of them settled in Manhattan and
belonged to (and helped start) Congregation Rodeph Sholom which
originally provided services in German and Hebrew. Some lived in
Chicago, IL; Buffalo, NY."
