In the May 20th issue of the Tablet Magazine, there is a story on the pre-WWII Jewish businesses in Berlin. According to the article, there were once 50,000 Jewish businesses. Researcher and educator at the House of the Wannsee Conference, historian Christoph Kreutzmueller, wrote a book (in German): "Final Sale: The End of Jewish Owned Businesses in Nazi Berlin". There is also an online database of thousands of companies that used to exist in Berlin between 1930-1945. The database may be accessed at: http://www2.hu-berlin.de/djgb/www/find It is searchable, free and written in German.
