In the index of French naturalisations, there is a Bernard
SCHREIBMANN, born in Gitomir (Russia) on 12 January 1871. He was
naturalised on 8 September 1907, along with a lady whose maiden name
was SCHWARTZBERG (the married women's first name is never written in
that index) born in Grabova (Russia) on 15 September 1877. He may be
the Bernard you are looking for, but it's not sure. As for his
daughter, without any information, it's difficult to find her name in
the lists of deportees, especially if she was married. In the lists
of deportation there were three women who could match with Bernard's
age : Bruh SCHREIBMANN (born in 1909, and Odette SCHREIBMANN born in
1911. The name SCHREIBMANN is not very common in France : there are
only two of them in the telephone directory. You are right : there is
no French national birth (or death) registry. You need to know the
town where the person you are looking for died.
