Parliament would like to remind you that the deadline for submission of nominations for the annual Obermayer German Jewish History Awards is September 21, 2015. The Call for Nominations can be obtained at: http://www.obermayer.us/award/nominate.htm The annual Obermayer German Jewish History Awards are given to non-Jewish Germans who have made extraordinary contributions to preserving vestiges of former Jewish life in their local communities, including genealogical records, historical books, cultural material, cemeteries, synagogues and monuments. Many of you previously submitted worthy nominations. Those nominees who have already received Certificates of Commendation are prime candidates for this year's awards. They will only require updating of the prior submissions. This will be the 16th year for such awards, which will be given on January 25, 2016 in Berlin. Each awardee and his/her spouse will be invited on an all expenses paid trip to Berlin to receive the award at the elegant Plenary Chamber of the Abgeordnetenhaus, the home of the Berlin Parliament. Successful nominators are also invited to attend all of the award ceremony events in Berlin, where they will meet with the award recipients they have chosen to honor. The honorees will receive a framed certificate and an honorarium to be used for the furtherance of their work. Awardees' contributions will be described to attendees and to the local, national and international news media. These awards have in the past received extensive worldwide media coverage. See: http://www.obermayer.us/award/news.htm If you know someone who may be appropriate for nomination, further information -- including the Call for Nominations and profiles of previous award winners and the jury -- can be obtained at: http://www.obermayer.us/award You may request a hard copy of the Call for Nominations by sending an email to: germanaward@gmail.com or a letter to: Obermayer Foundation, Inc. 239 Chestnut Street West Newton, MA 02465 USA Arthur Obermayer, West Newton, Massachusetts, obermayer@alum.mit.edu
