German SIG #Germany RE: ARENSBERG family of Dransfeld - Erratum and addendum #germany
I hasten to correct an inaccuracy in my previous post, with sincere apologies.
It is Karoline - not Hildegard - DANNENBERG born ARENSBERG that the book I
referenced describes as Frieda ARENSBERG's "Nichte" (niece).
According to the book, Karoline was born 10 September 1890 in Dransfeld and
married Alfred DANNENBERG, born 5 August 1886 in Marlow, Vorpommern-Ruegen.
They had three daughters, all born in Dransfeld: Irene (occasionally
referred to, perhaps inaccurately?, as Irma) born 5 August 1915, Hildegard
(Hilde) 18 June 1919, and Ursula (Ursel) 17 December 1922.
All those mentioned above sought refuge in England in 1939; Irene and
Ursel later settled in the USA with their husbands. All six were
commemorated by Stolpersteine in Dransfeld in 2013.
The missing jigsaw pieces are Karoline's parents. On the face of it, the
obvious presumption would be that her father was an as-yet-unidentified
older brother of Frieda and Albert ARENSBERG. However I believe the
term "Nichte" can sometimes have the looser connotation of "unspecified
younger female relative", so perhaps the position is not quite so clear-cut.
