Maybe he should ask the OSE (Oeuvre de secours à l'enfance) if they
have a file concerning this priest

http://www.ose-france.org/

and in USA: http://ose-usa.org/

The archives of OSE are in the library of Alliance Israelite Universelle

Subject: [frenchsig] identifying a priest / minister in Lot-et Garonne,
1940s

One of my cousins -- Norbert G., born in Wuerzburg, Germany in 1935 --
was hidden by a French priest or minister >from about 1941 to 1943.
Because he was so young at the time, Norbert remembers just a few
details:

- Before and after his period in hiding, he lived with his father's
aunt, Jeanette Jacobi DAVID, and her husband Albert, probably in
Dijon.
- The clergyman's name was Alfred GIGI, brother of Alice.
- The location was in departement Lot-et-Garonne, but Norbert doesn't
know the town. He recalls hearing mentions of the Agen, Cuzorn,
Montcrabeau, and Bon-Encontre.
- He was given the pseudonym Gustave Walter.
- He did not attend school during that period.

Norbert doesn't know whether Alfred GIGI was Catholic or Protestant
or whether GIGI is the correct spelling of the surname.

Norbert would like to reconstruct the details of his experience so
that he can nominate Alfred GIGI as a "Righteous Among the Nations."
Can anyone suggests sources that might help identify a priest /
minister who lived in Lot-et-Garonne in the 1940s?

Thank you.
