'recte' which means 'correct(ed)." Thus th given name Gutl was
corrected in records to Netty.

Also, does anyone happen to have any thoughts as to where the surnames of
my Galician ancestors may have originated (MARESSE/MAREHSE, BATIST).
According to the Jewish Records Indexing-Poland database MARRESE
appears in Tarnow and Lwow, BATIST is shown predominantly in
