<< Dear Galitzianers....young and old, near and far...
It's time to ring in the new year by renewing your Gesher Galicia
membership for 2011 if you haven't done so already.
Membership renewal letters were sent out many weeks ago, so if you
forgot to renew or can't find the letter, you can renew online and/or
find instructions on mail renewal by clicking this link:
IMPORTANT (to me, at any rate): If you are already a member but have
mislaid your renewal letter PLEASE DO NOT USE the on-line membership
form at the above web address. Doing that simply makes unnecessary
work for me as I try to reconcile what you write on that form with the
information already in our database. Send me a note and I'll email you a
PDF copy of your current renewal letter, which you can mark up with
corrections and additions as needed.
<< For Galitzianers who are new to this discussion group, perhaps you
don't realize that Gesher Galicia is dues-paying organization. While
subscribing to this list-serve is free, if you choose to join us your dues
entitle you to receive our scholarly quarterly journal, "The Galitzianer" -
available via electronic or paper subscription. Your dues also support
our research projects, regional meetings and IAJGS conference
programming. This year they will also support the re-design of our
website, with an upcoming "members only" section, which will entitle
you to access images of maps and land records and new indexes. >>
We welcome all new members to the dues-paying organization and
anyone wishing to join should indeed go to the URL listed by Pamela
above to obtain a membership form and instruction on how to join.
Renewing and new members should send in their forms SOON as I will
be closing the next edition of the Gesher Galicia Family Finder to
changes no later than the end of January. Of course, you can join or
renew at most any time, but doing so now will ensure your inclusion in
the next edition of the Gesher Galicia Family Finder.
If all goes according to plan, this will be the LAST TIME the Gesher
Galicia Family Finder is issued as a printed book.
<< In 2011 we will also be launching our online "Gesher Galicia Family
Finder" so you can search for other members researching towns and
surnames shared with you, with the ability to update your information
on a constant basis. There will also be a variety of special "member only"
features available in the coming year, so don't delay to renew, re-join (if
you've let your membership lapse) or re-energize your Galician research. >>
