Gesher Galicia SIG #Galicia The Brody Cemetery Project - 2nd call #galicia
Ami Elyasaf
Dear Researchers:
Two months ago I posted an announcement on the new Brody cemetery project. Thus far we raised less than half of the required budget >from only 16 contributors (out of over 300 Brody registered researchers). Since the first announcement, we have done the following: - Completed a one-day survey at the cemetery, which helped us to estimate the required work. - Put out a proposal for photographing the gravestones and reviewed several responding bids. - Selected a photographer - Defined the scope of work We want to begin photography next month, but whether we can get the work done is up to you! We cannot sign a contract for work without the adequate funding and this is the best season in which to do the photography. In order to have it happen, we need your help in raising the required $4,500. Please consider giving generously so that the work may begin now! Donations can be through our JewishGenerosity account on either Gesher Galicia's page: <http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/v_projectslist.asp?project_cat=14> Or on the Jewish Online Worldwide Burial Records (JOWBR) page: <http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/v_projectslist.asp?project_cat=32> Click on the box that reads: "Brody Cemetery Project." Contributions are tax deductible for U.S. citizens. You contribute online with a credit card or print up a form to fax or mail in with a check or credit card number (US currency only). Instructions: As there are multiple donation sites on each page -- make certain you click on the tab that reads: "Brody Cemetery Project" so your donation is credited properly. Higher levels of donations will give you early access to these records and the Excel files: $100+ Donations: you will receive an Excel spreadsheet with all the information >from the headstones collected that will be going to JOWBR in advance of the data being posted online. Please contact me for questions. Those of you that would like to join the 2nd phase of indexing the photographed data, please contact me. Meanwhile you can search your Brody ancestors at http://sites.google.com/site/elyasaffamily/brody-data (this is the output of our previous project that was done with the generosity of the Brody researchers).
