Gesher Galicia SIG #Galicia A Galizianer (Rohatyn) who obtained a 1953 Mexico City divorce #galicia

Dear GG researchers,

I have several odd questions arising out of a 1953 Mexico City
divorce obtained by my Jute HORN of Rohatyn (Galicia). I just
learned of this divorce, having finally laid my hands tonight on
her 1958 NYC probate records.

At the time of her divorce, Jute held Israeli citizenship, having
emigrated >from Rohatyn to Palestine in 1934. She had been
married to Joachim TEICHMAN of Chodorow (Galicia), who also
held Israeli citizenship. He had emigrated to Palestine the year
prior to Jute.

Both Jute and Joachim were residents of Tel Aviv at the time of
their divorce.

My questions:

Why would one go all the way >from Israel to Mexico for a divorce?

Once divorced in Mexico, was it then legally recognized back in
Israel?

How common was this method?

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, how does one obtain
copies of a Mexican divorce >from this period, if at all?

Thanks for any and all help!

Regards,
