Gesher Galicia SIG #Galicia Re: Przemysl, Sieniawa, Stryj vital records online #galicia

Many thanks to Logan Kleinwaks for telling us about this valuable new
resource.

A few comments based on my search for Sieniawa records:

- The Sieniawa records are already indexed on JRI (jri-poland.org). It is
helpful to start your search on JRI, in order to obtain the "Akta" number
rather than searching through every image for names of interest --
although for the very energetic, a page-by-page search might yield
additional finds.

- As those of you who have ordered copies of indexed Galician records
know, the original entries -- especially birth records -- often contain
important additional information. So, for example, for the birth in 1898
of my cousin Josef DILLER, JRI lists parents' names (Abraham DILLER
and Mirl REIFER) and father's town (Przeworsk). The original record
provides exact dates of birth and circumcision; names of maternal
grandparents; and more.

- Some of the titles for Sieniawa include the words "israelitischen" and
"izraelickiego" and I mistakenly assumed that only those are Jewish
records. Not the case! (Thank you, Logan, for clarifying.)
