My grandfather was >from Stryj/Turka Galicia in the 1920s till the war broke out. I asked my father what my grandfather had done for a living and he said something to the effect of "he counted trees."
Does this make any sense? Could this have been a keeper or manager of a Polish noble estate? Is there a place to look up such a position?
