In response to previous discussion. The name Koch is a common Jewish family
name in Alsace (Elzas), now north-east France, previously German (prior to
WW1). Many Alsace Jews also settled in adoining areas of Germany (Black-Forest
& Rhine Valley) and Switzerland.
