On my homepage I published an article (in German) about "Mosellaendische
Ortsnamen als juedische Familiennamen". You can find it under the
following address:

http://www.angelfire.com/art/gregorbrand/Namen.html

It deals with Jewish names >from the 17th and 18th century who were derived
from the names of villages and towns in the German Mosel region (between
Coblence [Koblenz] and Trier). Some of these surnames still exist today.

Surnames mentioned are for example: BERNKASTEL/BERNCASTEL; SCHWEICH;
TRIER; WITTLICH; TRITEM; KLESSERT; DETZEM; SOBERNHEIM; KELSEN; MEHRING;
MEERFELD; KILBARG; PINNERICH

There were of cause different spellings of these names.
With best wishes to all.
