As those of you know who have looked at the 1828 census it is in Latin.
Under Observationes in many cases the profession of the head of
household is given and I do have a problem with some of the words
....cannot find a
proper translation for some professions listed, such as:
CIRCUMFORANEUS, QUAESTOR, DIVERSITOR, DORSAXIUS
CIRCUMFORANEUS means "open market debit" or "fair dues". Maybe the
person was some kind of a tax collector.
QUAESTOR is a kind of Judge (vizsgalo biro in Hungarian, but I don't
know the English words for that profession).
DIVERSITAS means "CONTRADICTION". The person could have been some
kind of a lawyer.
DORSAXIUS ?????
