Hungary SIG #Hungary Update 1848 Hungarian Jewish Census on the AHD #hungary
The AHD has just been updated with the transcriptions of the September
to December 2003 period.
10,016 records were added and there are now over 35,000 entries for
this data base alone.
The introduction at:
has also been updated, and shows which Megye and Towns are now on line.
Our thanks go to the 20 or so transcribers who are contributing to the
progress of this project.
We are probably on either of 50% of the project.
To see the project completed within an other year's time we will need
some more transcribers.
Some transcribers have contributed or are contributing 3 to 4,000
records, - an entire Megye (County) - and it would be unfair to have
them do more.
Enjoy and please consider coming on board

Moderator VK: This is a remarkable accomplishment that wouldn't have been possible without Robert's guidance and the efforts of other volunteers. Thanks to all who have made this possible! If you are not able to help with transcription, consider a contribution to JewishGen to help pay for uploading this data to the AHD and maintaining it for researchers to use. Like most non-profit organizations, JewishGen and our parent, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, have seen a drop in donations. There are considerable costs involved in maintaining a website as rich in resources as JewishGen. Our ability to continue providing and maintaining resources like the AHD is dependent on donations >from those who understand the importance of making this information available. For information about contributing to JewishGen go to the JewishGen-erosity page: http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/
