Katz, Itzik <Itzik.Katz@...>

Hello George,

My name is Itzik (Itzhak) Katz and I am researching my family whose =
origin
is >from Ujfeherto, Szabolcs County, Hungary.

I have recently been made aware that I am related to the people in your =
list
by marriage. My grandfather's brother, Emanuel Katz, born 1860 in =
Ujfeherto,
married in February 9, 1887 with Ida Angyal, born 1869 in Tiszalok. The
wedding was also held in Tiszalok.

Ida Angyal parents were Herman Angyal, born 1829 in Buj (not confirmed =
as
there are contradictory information about his place of birth), and =
Eszter
Gottdiener, born 1835 in Tiszalok.

Here things start to get complicated. Eszter Gottdiener is believed to =
be
the daughter of Rabbi Samson (Shimshon) Eliezer Gottdiner who was
Av-Beit-Din (the head of Jewish court) in Tiszalok and his wife Eva =
Blakk.
Also based on 1848 Census there was a Yizrael Gottdienr in Tiszalok who =
had
a daughter Eszter, 3 month old at the time of the Census, his wife was
Rachel Levi.

There is another branch of Gottdiener centered in Hajdunans. An open
question still remains to be solved if the two Gottdiener branches are
related to each other. Joan Hartman who is the most knowledgeable =
person
about this family clainms that they are related but she hasn't yet been =
able
to determine the exact nature of the connection.

It looks like the Gottdiener's originated >from Kis Tornya (Slovakia =
today).

Have you been in contact with Joan Hartman or Miriam Beazley (Hartman)?

Joan has done a very thorough research on the Gottdiener and she stated =
that
the work isn't complete and there are still many discrepancies. If you =
could
share with me how you are related to the Gottdieners maybe we can
collaborate on resolving this big mystery.

I am copying the Email to Jeno Katz of Brooklyn. Jeno is great grandson =
of
Emanuel Katz and Ida Angyal.=20
