Hello Friends,

The historical index in the 'Handy Guide to Hungarian Genealogical
records' by Jared Suess states:

"In the 1771 Tolerance act, Emperor Joseph II gave non-Catholic Religious
groups the right to keep duplicate church records in their parishes. The
originals are kept in the Catholic parishes."

According to this around this time and even prior to 1771, Catholic
parishes should hold Jewish records. If someone has a chance to look at
an large Catholic parish in anLDS film, it would be a worthwhile effort

Perhaps someone could post this message on other Gen boards, perhaps
other researcher had encountered such records
