Probably this was mentioned on this list many time: there isn't such a thing= as the EXACT equivalent of a secular name to a Hebrew one or vice versa.= Mali could be anything in Hebrew, like Malka, Miryam or even names which do= not start with mem. As far as I know Mali is the pet name for Amalia or= Amalie, thus names beginning with alef would be candidates too. Or, since= Amalia's root is the old German word "amal", meaning "work" or= "industrious", any Hebrew translation would fit too. If you search JewishGen's archive of stored messages <http://data.jewishgen.= org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~archpop> you will find 32 which mention and= discuss Mali.
