It occurs to me that many people who are researching towns within
pre-Trianon Hungary may not have entered their research interest into the
JewishGen Family Finder (JGFF).
The JGFF is a database that lists the surnames and towns that various people
are researching. One can query this database either by surname or by town
name. More information on the JGFF can be found on JewishGen's web site.
Entering your information into the JGFF is extremely important. Not only
does it enable you to potentially connect with others researching the same
towns and/or surnames, but the Hungarian Vital records Project uses the JGFF
to determine which towns are to be transcribed, and it is the source we use
to contact people to assist with performing the transcriptions.
We urge all those researching towns in pre-Trianon Hungary to make sure you
have entered all towns and surnames into the JGFF. The more people
researching a town, the more likely we are to transcribe that town's vital
records. And the JGFF is the primary means we use to determine who to
contact about transcribing those records.
