missed Lynn Schneider=92s moving video about her family at the H-SIG =
luncheon last year, this will be your chance to find out how the =
discovery of a box of old home movies started Lynn Schneider on a quest =
to learn about her family=92s return to 1920=92s Hungary.
9-10:15 a.m. Hungarian SIG Business Meeting (Salon I) Come early to =
make sure you get a seat! Hear about H-SIG projects, ask questions, and =
meet other H-SIGrs
10:30-11:45 a.m. Magyar Zsidok on the Move: 2000+ Years of Jewish =
Migration Into, Through, and =46rom Hungary (Canyons/A) Hear the =
results of my research about Jewish migration and the factors that =
influenced the relocation decisions our ancestors made.
12-1:30 p.m. Hungarian SIG Luncheon (Trophi North)=97Karesz Vandor and =
Dan Jurca, our SIG-sponsored speakers will speak and answer your =
questions about travel to Hungary and Romania to do family research.
1:45-3 p.m. Jewish Genealogy Research in Romania (Canyons/C)=97Dan Jurca =
will discuss opportunities, techniques, and challenges for research in =
State and local archives in Transylvania and other parts of Romania
4:45-6 p.m. Specifics of Hungarian Jewish Genealogy-Historical =
Background and Resources (Canyons/B)=97This is the overview session that =
H-SIGrs asked for at last year=92s SIG meeting. Karesz Vandor. a =
Budapest-based Jewish genealogist, will provide information about =
resources along with important historical information.=20
1:45-3 p.m. Hungarian Jews in the Austro-Hungarian and Hungarian =
Military=97Overview and Resources for Research (Canyons/B)=97Karesz will =
describe the role of Jews in the military and provide information about =
resources for research.
Both Karesz and Dan will also be available in the Resources Room to =
provide individual assistance with translation and research questions. =
