Hello - Here is a very basic question.
In reviewing Hungarian birth records on JewishGen, I see in the comments =
"Koma:" and "Sandak:" followed by a name. What is the meaning of these =
KLEIN >from Mikofalva & Magyarlapos
Moderator: Koma means godfather and the sandak or sendak is the person who holds
the baby at his bris. We list the name because this person is typically a relative
who may be the baby's grandfather, an uncle or, sometimes, the baby's father.
