I'm intrigued by the possibility but am finding it rather confusing. Like many of my Jewish brethren my grandparents found themselves just barely on the wrong side of the border after WWI and left for the US soon thereafter. I was under the impression that they lost all rights to claim Hungarian citizenship but now I'm told that's not necessarily the case. It's possible that an ancestor lived within the borders of present-day Hungary but if so he is rather remote. Does anyone have experience with, knowledge of, connections to those familiar with this process? I have found many contradictory citations on Hungarian government websites but no authoritative source or expert guidance.
