I would like to thank all those who offered suggestions in my quest for
material on Adass Jisroel, particularly Peter Cullman and Susan Edel. In
Mario Oddenberg;s book "Adass Jisroel, Die Juedische Gemeinede in Berlin" I
found three references to my grandmother's greatuncle chazan Hosias Lemky
(1853-1942). I was particularly thrilled by the following item:

"" I often remember the last kaddish, the prayer of sorrow,
of the second chazan, Mr.Lemky, on the last holiday in
the melody of the High Holidays, when he thundered out
the prayer with his bass-voice"
