The following is the inscription on the tombstone of my 2nd GGUncle:-
Solomon ULLMANN, President of the Western Synagogue and at one time
treasurer of the Plymouth Hebrew congregation who died on the 14th of Jan
1917 and was buried on the 16th Jan aged years And his dearly beloved
wife Sarah ULLMANN (nee JOSEPH) who died on the 21st of Jan 1899 and was
buried on the 24th of January aged 71 years.
I have discovered >from his Will that he was presented with a silver trowel
after laying the foundation stone of the Western Synagogue and also
bequethed some money in his Will which was to be invested and used as a
prize for Hebrew Class at the same Synagogue.
Would there be any records still surviving >from the Western Synagogue which
might have the above events listed. For instance, I am hoping that maybe a
photo was taken on the laying of the foundation stone.
Thank you in advance
