Readers may not be aware that over 1,300 Jewish refugees, mostly German and
Austrian, reached the Philippines, hoping to go on to the United States, and
that most survived.
Their lives under Japanese occupation is interestingly described in Frank
Ephraim's new book, "Escape to Manila" - >from Nazi Tyranny to Japanese Terror".
Ephraim has also computerized the names of 1,319 refugees, and these will shortly
appear on Jewishgen's Holocaust name lists collection.
