Hello, My skills are intermediate or less in German Jewish research. I live in
suburban Texas and English is my only language. With a computer, I am certainly a
beginner.

The OPPENHEIMER family lived in Gedern, Hessen and by tradition, but not by
genetics, was of priestly descent. Does anyone know if the Elfriede OPPENHEIMER
listed in the West German Gedenkbuch was the same as the one who lived in Gedern
in the 1930s until she moved to a Rohrbach? A Sally OPPENHEIMER, born 15 June
1884, Gedern, is otherwise unknown. Is there a census or some other non vital
record that might tell or suggest whether or not she survived childhood there?

My Joseph and Fromet or Fannie (SAMUEL) GOLDSCHMIDT, a middle aged, probably
quite poor trader couple, appear to have left the hamlet of Gedern, Rheinland
Pfalz ca. 1837. Passenger lists show four of their five children arriving NYC
from Havre in the 1840s. The parent's names were quickly reused, but when and
where they died is not known. Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to
where they might have moved?

Great-grandnieces, Lotte (Charlotte?) and Frieda or Friedel MAYER of Dreisen,
fled to Johannesburg and lived there married, the latter having a short one with
Werner BERGHEIM, but what became of them since, is unknown. Other names connected
to the GOLDSCHMITTs were KAYYEL?, BREITENSTUHL and HIRSCH (Weitersweiler).

Then in London were DAVIS, DAVIES, DAVIDS {PREGER}, HARRIS, HARRISS {YENTERS} and
probably JACKSON and ISAACS, with the last born in Germany, possibly in BRILL?
