Howard M. Relles <rellesh@...>
I recently stumbled across an unexpected way of determining death
dates. While scanning the Newark City Directories (published almost
every year >from about 1880 to 1965) for family names of interest ONE
YEAR AT A TIME, I came across FIRST chronological references to several
women in the year following the LAST chronological reference to their
husband and in which the listing said simple "Widow of (that husband)".
I wish you similar luck. Email me for further info. on the Newark City
I would suggest contacting the appropriate public library, university,
or historical society for other directories of interest to you.
