Looking for West Coast ports for immigration lists,I find that there are no records before 1893. The national archives microfilm of records only goes back that far. I found a book " American Passenger Arrival records: A guide to the Records of Immigrants Arriving at American Ports by Sail and Steam." by Michael Tepper. He says that records where not collected in the Western port cities since immigration was sporadic. Customs records and ships captains lists were available but not kept for any archives. If anyone knows where else to look for earlier arrivals, please let me know.
