JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen re: finding obit lookup sources #general

If you are looking for recent obits, large city newspapers are also
often available online with searchable archives. In many cases the
search is free, although there may be a fee for sending you the actual
obit. Of course, once you know where to find the article you can
pursue the hard copy.

You can use any search engine to see what's out there. For instance
YAHOO lets you search online newspapers by state at:

http://dir.yahoo.com/News_and_Media/Newspapers/Browse_By_Region/U_S__States/

(For searches outside of the U.S. just delete that last part after
"Region")

Large city newspapers are often available on microfilm and
through the InterLoan Library system.
