On Monday night, October 19th, at the Sahara West Library, 9600 West
Sahara in Las Vegas, the Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern
Nevada-West and their co-sponsor, the Clark County/Las Vegas Library
District were extremely proud of the program that was presented by Gary
Mokotoff on how to find your family roots. The people who attended were
treated to a fascinating and informative talk along with a slide
Mary Barkan, a member of the JGSSN-West introduced the speaker, and Gary
detailed his search for his family's history and brought with him many
documents that he then displayed telling how he discovered the paper
trail that led him to information on his ancestors. His successes and
enthusiasm encouraged all who attended to continue with their searches.
It was a very positive experience and Gary made it entertaining as well.
During a question and answer period, he provided many of the attendees
with pertinent information on the correct process to use in researching
their history. It was a wonderful program and was very well received as
we could tell by all the complimentary remarks that evening as well as
all the phone calls we received. It was only due to the fact that the
library was closing that the program finally had to be brought to an
