A good number of Discussion Group participants have contacted me
privately to relay similar stories of relatives who have served in the
Russian military--all in non-combat roles. Curiously, no one has
conveyed any knowledge or experience searching for documentation. A
couple of JewishGenners have kindly offered to check with acquaintances
and other resources to see if they can learn more about how
genealogists should proceed. Due to the widespread interest, I have
requested that they post their findings to the group. If any useful
leads should filter to me privately, I will also post for everyone's
benefit.
