JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen Re: Places in Hungary #general

Munkotch is probably Munkacs, the Hungarian name for modern Mukachevo in
the southwest corner of Ukraine.

Cumyot - if the initial "C" is pronounced like a "K", it might be
Veliki Komjati (also formerly spelled Velyka Kumnjata), which is a
village southeast of Mukachevo.

Elmish -- a long shot, but it might be Ilnica, a small town in the
same area. All these places were in Hungary in 1900, today in Ukraine.

The spelling is probably not good, I wrote what I thought I
heard and I need help: Elmish, Munkotch, Cumyot.
If anyone knows the correct spelling ad where they are now and
early 1900's, please let me know.
