JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen 19th Annual Conference on Jewish Genealogy, Aug 8-13, 1999-Bulletin #14 #general
In addition to a 3-hour beginners' workshop which will outline basic
genealogical research methods, participants at the 19th Annual Conference on
Jewish Genealogy (August 8-13,1999) will learn how to set up a records
management system; how to read a Hebrew tombstone; how to get what you want
in-person or by mail; how to create an effective oral history; how to use
ephemera to retrace your ancestors' footsteps; how to publish your genealogy
on video; and how to organize a successful family reunion. Not only will
participants learn how to research their ancestors' genealogy, but they will
also learn how to research the genealogy of a tenement as a way of learning
more about their ancestors' lives. Ethical issues in genealogy and family
history will be examined.
A copy of the Conference registration application can be printed directly from
the web site (http://members.aol.com/nyc99conf). Check out the list of
lectures planned so far. The Conference will be held at the Mariott Marquis
Hotel, located in the heart of revitalized Times Square -- accessible to all
archives, libraries and resources for genealogical research. Provide the
Conference information when you make your reservations with the hotel and
airlines in order to receive the special rates for attendees.
