A new biography of Irving Berlin should be read by all Jewish genealogists
regardless of their interest in his music. The book opens with a detailed
account of how a Jewish family >from Tolochin, Belorussia was able to leave
for America and arrive in NY on September 13, 1893. A detailed itinerary
mapped out by the Paris based Alliance Israelite Universelle is included.
The "Temporary Rules" on Jews instituted by Czar Alexander III is also
discussed in the book.
