JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen RE: Tomaszow - Poland. LOEWY #general

In a recent message Jonathon Borchard asked if there were any records on
Tomaszow, Poland

I have recently discovered that my GGGGGrandmother called LOEWY
(first name not known) died in Tomaszow, Poland October 18, 1836.
Does anyone know if there is a list of deaths for this town >from this
period??

Where can I find out about the town - I don't know anything about it at
all!!

The fact is there are two Tomaszow's in Poland. One is called Tomaszow
Mazowiecki and was in Piotrokow Gubernia and the other is called Tomaszow
Lubelski and was in Lublin Gubernia. Jewish Records Indexing-Poland has
Shtetl CO-OPs for both of these towns. The JRI-Poland database contains
data >from Tomaszow Mazowiecki for the year in question on the database and
it is recommended that the database be checked for a match
http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl The source of this data is >from the LDS
microfilmed vital records. However, we are currently working on ordering
from the Piotrokow Polish State Archives the Tomaszow Mazowiecki vital
records >from the years that were not microfilmed by the Mormons. Stay
tuned for more information.
