MODERATOR NOTE: We always appreciate hearing >from GerSIG members regarding
their opinions of our activities. Thanks to Ms. Lea for her comment below.
It's important to understand, though, that there are better ways to tell the
world what you have learned about your ancestry than posting complete family
trees or family histories in this list. In fact, we will not accept them.
TO share your family tree with the world use the FTJP service at JewishGen.
TO let others know what family names and towns you are researching use the
JGFF at JewishGen.
Messages to this forum should tell us what information you are seeking and,
briefly, what you have learned already. The family names and associated towns
should be mentioned. If you have hit a "brick wall" in your research you should
explain that - other GerSIG members may have ideas about how to get around it.
The full details of your family history, however, should be shared via the
JewishGen services mentioned above and in private email and data exchange,
not through this forum. MODERATOR ===============>
I did take the time to read the post >from Bettina Glass and appreciate it
when a researcher lets us know what they have already found. Not only is
that information helpful for me if I am helping them it keeps us >from
spinning our wheels searching for information they already have.
When I first asked for help in my research I neglected to inform other
researchers of the records I had located and then felt badly when they
searched to locate that information. I now try to be more specific regarding
what I have and where I need help.
