Leyb is Yiddish for Hebrew Arye (others: Leon, Lion, Lew, Lev). I do not
aware of the direct connection to Yehuda, but this used to be a common
combination in the double name: LeybYuda.
The connection between Leyb and Yehuda is the Lion of Judah-the symbol of
the tribe- so Judah-Yehuda and Lion-Leyb go together.
