JewishGen Discussion Group #JewishGen A JewishGen success story #general

I want to share a success story related to using the Family Tree of the
Jewish People at the JewishGen site.

When I was growing up, my mother was in contact with cousins of hers in
Colorado. I had only a vague memory of their names, but found some
names on the backs of photos in her album that rang a bell. Among them
were several pictures of children identified as Homer Goodman and
Lorraine Nathenson. The names Ceil and Rose showed up as adults in this
same group, but without surnames.

I searched the Family Tree and a Lorraine Nathanson popped up with her
husband's family name and a Colorado location. I contacted the
submitter, who said he got the information >from a member of the
husband's family and knew nothing more about Lorraine.

Fortunately, the name was unusual, so I went to switchboard.com and
found them listed. I wrote to Lorraine and sure enough-- she's my third
cousin and was able to fill in the fact that my VILNER/ WILNER
grandmother and hers were cousins. Ceil was her mother and Rose is
Homer's.

Several years ago, I found a first cousin on my father's side through
the JGFF.

Keep up the good work, folks! (And yes, I made a donation yesterday.
It's worth every penny!)
