The way I learned creating family trees was circles for females,
squares for males, an X inside for deceased, straight lines
connecting M and F for marriage, // for a divorce, a straight
vertical line for "genetic" children and IIRC, a squiggly
vertical line for adopted children.
There is no reason to exclude spouses/children of adoptees.
In fact, I'd argue just the opposite. Certainly, children of
adoptees are related to their parents. Isn't that what family
trees are all about?
