You are both wrong and right at the same time. The troops were named Polish Army in France, not a Legion. The Army existed >from winter 1939/40 till summer 1940. After the collapse of French Republic in 1940 the army was evacuated to British Isles. There's a lot of reference on that topic, but mostly in Polish.
