My father's side of the family came >from Bukowina, of which
Czernowitz/Chernovtsy/Chernivtsi was the capital. Since no one has
yet posted a ShtetLinks site for Czernowitz, I have taken the liberty
of adding information about Czernowitz to my web pages for the nearby
shtetls of Sadgura and Radauti. See:

In his 01-09-01 message Amoz Chernoff expressed his frustration at not
having found genealogical information for the writer-physician
Shaul TSCHERNICHOVSKY.

I do not think there is a yizkor book for Czernowitz, (Czernovetsy,
Czernwicz) but there is mention of it, and maybe some description in a
general reference work: "Arim ve-imahot," Vol. 4. There is certainly an
article about Czernowitz in the Encyclopedia Judaica, although I don't know
whether it mentions the TCHERNIKOVSKY family.

I am certain that other Jewishgenners are interested in Czernowitz and
may have some information about it.
