Alien Registration Cards of today are different >from the Alien
Registration Act of the early 1940's.

The latter was to register all non-US citizens living in the US at that
time, as we were beginning to participate in WWII. I've heard obtaining
these forms can be almost as useful as obtaining citizenship papers..
